Two Rivers and Four Lakes & Riyue Shuangta Cultural Park: As dusk falls, the twin pagodas rise from calm lake waters. Shoot blue-hour reflections, soft bridge lighting and peaceful urban karst backdrops. The still lake surface creates mirror-like reflections ideal for long-exposure photography. Spend your first night in Guilin to rest and prepare for early sunrise shoots ahead.

Day trip to Longji Rice Terraces, cable car ascent, explore Huangluo Yao Village, capture terrace sunset; overnight on terrace mountain. Today we venture deep into the mountainous Longji Terraces, an ancient agricultural masterpiece perfect for layered landscape shots. Longji Rice Terraces Cable Car Ride: Take the cable car upward for sweeping overhead views of cascading terraces rolling down mountain slopes. Changing light paints the stepped fields in shifting tones of emerald or golden yellow, depending on the season. Huangluo Yao Village: Known as the world-famous long-hair Yao village. Photograph stilted wooden houses, Yao silver ornaments, traditional costumes and authentic ethnic daily life. Stay overnight at mountain lodge within the terrace zone to be ready for potential dawn terrace photography.

Return toward Li River, Xianggong Hill sunrise shoot, Li River cruise to Yangshuo; evening West Street and optional Impression Liu Sanjie. This is the core Li River photography day. Wake before dawn for Xianggong Hill, the most celebrated sunrise viewpoint of the Li River. Xianggong Hill Sunrise: Hike to the viewpoint before daybreak. Capture swirling morning mist wrapping jagged karst pinnacles, with the silver ribbon of Li River winding through the mountain valley, a classic ink-painting landscape. Li River Cruise: Board the cruise boat gliding past stacked karst peaks, waterfalls and fishing hamlets. Frame vertical karst silhouettes, river mist and bamboo rafts along the route. Yangshuo West Street: After check-in, wander the century-old pedestrian street for street photography. Impression Liu Sanjie (Optional): The world’s largest outdoor natural-stage performance lit against karst mountain backdrop.

Stay in Xingping Ancient Town; climb Laozhai Hill for sunset over the famous 20 RMB banknote landscape; overnight Xingping. Shift base to riverside Xingping for unrushed photography, the heart of the Li River iconography. Xingping Ancient Town: Wander weathered bluestone alleys, old wooden riverside houses and ancient banyan trees. Capture quiet street scenes, fishing boats and local daily life away from heavy tourist crowds. Laozhai Hill Hike: Climb the stone trail to the summit viewpoint. From the peak you get the iconic panoramic vista of the Yellow Cloth Shoal, the exact scene printed on China’s 20 RMB banknote. Golden sunset light drapes over layers of karst peaks and the winding Li River. Overnight in Xingping to avoid rushed travel and enable early morning river shooting next day.

Yulong River bamboo rafting, Ten-Mile Gallery e-bike photography tour, Moon Hill & Big Banyan Tree; stop at Elephant Trunk Hill before Guilin departure. Immerse yourself in Yangshuo’s gentle pastoral countryside for your final photographic chapter. Yulong River Bamboo Raft: Drift the quiet “Little Li River”. Hand-poled bamboo rafts glide beneath bamboo canopies. Shoot soft rural scenes of rice paddies, stone arch bridges and isolated karst summits rising above farmland. Ten-Mile Gallery E-bike Tour: Ride along the pastoral corridor. Stop at Big Banyan Tree, a 1,400-year-old giant tree with sprawling aerial roots, and Moon Hill, a karst peak pierced by a natural moon-shaped arch. The arch shifts shape as you move for creative framing. Elephant Trunk Hill: On your way back to Guilin, pause to shoot Guilin’s landmark elephant-shaped karst rock and its river reflection. Transfer to Guilin airport / railway station for your departure.
